IKE Boys Basketball Non-League Start

The IKE Boys Basketball team is off to a pretty hot start. They set themselves up for a relatively tough non-league schedule to kick off the 2024-25 season.

@ East Valley:

The Cadets started their season in dominant fashion. Previously, they had lost two straight games to the Red Devils, last year's loss being by a margin of 20 points. This game was much different, IKE ran up 20 points in the 1st quarter and 21 more in the 2nd, earning them a 13-point lead at the half. They were able to hold off a surge from East Valley in the 4th and secure the win 67-61. Junior Lucas Stevens led the charge with 27 points and Junior Charlie Davis added 15.

Home Opener: Selah

IKE once again showed their immense improvement from last season as they put up another incredible performance to defeat Selah. The Cadets were very undersized and did not match up on paper going into this game. The team's defense shut down Selah’s game plan, and their relentless offensive attack put the bigs in foul trouble early. Juelz Terry (Senior) and Michael Serna (Junior) led the offense through the first 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter, Lucas Stevens finally came alive, putting up 9 points in the final period including the go-ahead bucket with 3 seconds left in the game. Terry finished with 25 points, Stevens with 20, and Serna with 13.

@ Hermiston

After two great wins, the boys unfortunately hit a roadblock. On Tuesday, they traveled to Hermiston for what was supposed to be an easy win. However, things didn’t go as planned, and they lost a close one, 59-51, to a Hermiston team that executed better on both ends of the floor. Stevens scored 24 points, and Terry added 17.
