Eisenhower Volleyball’s Bright Future
The Volleyball team has started off the season kind of shaky but has major potential to be very good in coming years. They started off the season with a tough loss to the Selah Vikings in which they lost in 3 sets. They then headed down to Eastmont and again had a tough game in which again they lost in 3 sets.
They then came back to Ike and had a player return from injury, Mercedez Garza, Which they then played against Sunnyside and defeated them in 3 sets. They had big help from Braelen Skinner who had 23 digs, Cheyenne Phillips with 35 assists and 2 kills, Catalina Armijo with 12 kills, and Alivia Colbert with 13 kills and 7 digs.
They then traveled down the Road against Davis and had a tough battle but ultimately lost in 3 sets. In the tough loss, some notable stats were Catalina Armijo with 7 kills, Braelen Skinner with 13 digs, Alivia Colbert with 8 digs, 11 kills and 2 blocks, and Cheyenne Phillips with 27 assists and 2 aces.
Next, they played at Ike against a tough West Valley team and lost in 3 sets. They had strong performances from Catalina Armijo, Braelen Skinner and Alivia Colbert.
I had the chance to interview one of the players and her name is Mercedez Garza and I asked her about the team and how they can succeed moving forward, she said ,“The more we play together, the easier it will get for us, we have all the right pieces and we will figure out how to put them all together really soon and once we do that, this team is gonna’ look very good for the rest of this year and next.”
With that interview it’s safe to say that Eisenhower Volleyball will be looking very good soon.
