Spring is in the Air!

    Spring is here, and that means more action here at Eisenhower High School! At the beginning of March, we had a pep assembly featuring spring sports, our dance and cheer teams, as well as Mr. IKE. Dance performed their state-qualifying hip-hop routine, fastpitch and baseball played against each other in a dodgeball match, golf and tennis ran a relay race, track and soccer played tails, and Mr. IKE contestants performed their dance routine.
    Coming up, we have our annual spring musical, music adjudications, club photos, spring sports (and assemblies), prom, and much more! Eisenhower spring sports include baseball, fastpitch softball, track and field, boys and girls tennis, and boys soccer. With the winter sports season coming to a close, spring sports are just coming up, with jamborees, games, matches, and meets all set up. Check MaxPreps or our school website for schedules, and come out and support your athletes!
    Aside from the sports, our drama department put on Oklahoma! the musical. Months of work go into putting this together, as well as many, many long nights, so be sure to give them a pat on the back for representing our school the way they do. Later in the spring, they will be putting on senior-directed one-acts, so be sure to show up for those as well.
    On March 28th, we have our annual Mr. IKE pageant. Mr. IKE is run through the Memorial Foundation and the Youthworks Council of Yakima to help provide funding for youth pediatric services at Children’s Village and MultiCare Yakima Memorial. This year, the team goal was set at $25,000, and we are almost halfway there. If you feel like helping this great cause and organization, be sure to show up on pageant night and express your support.
    Finally, our dance team will be heading to State on the 22nd at our local Sundome. They have worked so hard this year to put routines together, performing some routines for us this year, and both their pom and hip hop routines qualified.     As spring makes its way to us, the weather will also be heating up, so be prepared. Wear sunscreen if you are going to be outside for long periods of time, be sure to drink plenty of water, and go soak up that sunshine!
