Energy Drinks Health Risks
Energy drinks are some of people's favorite beverages, from Monster, Bang Energy, and Rockstar, to Red Bull. You can find almost any energy drink in stores and food markets, and you can even buy them online. Many students who attend IKE bring drinks to school to start their day, and a majority of those drinks are energy drinks.
People think that these drinks are harmless and help you wake up and focus better, but if you look under the surface of what these drinks actually do, you might reconsider consuming them. Energy drinks have a big effect on young people, especially if you drink them often.
A popular energy drink among students at IKE is Red Bull, but this drink can have negative effects on your cardiovascular and nervous system due to the taurine and guarana found in it. Red Bulls can lead to insomnia, ischemic strokes, high levels of cholesterol, and can cause lifelong effects on your liver. A big one for me is how it causes insomnia because getting enough sleep is very important, especially for students, because when we have enough sleep, it helps us focus more. Studies show that students with more sleep perform better academically.
Another popular energy drink is Monster, but it's no better than the rest. Monster is extremely acidic and is loaded with a huge amount of caffeine that can make your heartbeat become rapid and cause dehydration, vomiting, seizures, and heart failure. This drink has also been related to many deaths. It can also stop bone growth in growing bodies.
Energy drinks can increase your anxiety, depression, and stress, which is not good at all to have as a student or anyone in general. Knowing the effects energy drinks can cause is very important, especially in younger crowds, because it can show you how badly it can affect you, and you might want to reconsider what you're drinking.
