Frightful Fun

Vampires and ghouls and monsters, oh my! Halloween is taking its course, and people are already putting up terrifying decorations. Haunted houses and corn mazes are opening up and getting ready to scare you silly. This year, we have a fun-filled month with both a Trunk or Treat event and volunteer opportunities at Madd Hatters Haunt. Grab your Halloween costumes and buckets of candy; let’s see what eerie activities await!

Over at Madd Hatters Haunt, plenty of spots are open for community service hours. This is perfect for those who still require 10-15 hours of community service to graduate. A few of the positions are design, makeup, tour guides, actors, management, tech crew, and more. Remember, you don’t get paid for volunteering. However, those who go above and beyond and display employee traits will receive letters of recommendation for later jobs. Their current hours are 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays. To get more information on the job, go over to maddhattershaunt.com. They’re always looking for more volunteers to help with their spectacular haunts!

Every year, Eisenhower holds an annual Trunk or Treat event. This year, it will be on Oct. 30th from 4-6 p.m. It will be held in the school's south parking lot, with cars as far as the eye can see. Everyone is welcome, not just students who attend Ike. It’s also not too late to be eligible to park your car and give away treats to the little ones, either.  Don’t forget to decorate your car trunk! This is what makes Halloween so festive. If you would like to sign up, scan a QR code from one of the many Trunk or Treat posters around the school or sign up through email using the Google Form sent by Ms. Acosta. Feel free to talk to her in the counseling office if you have any questions. We hope to see you and your family there!

Now that we’ve established what spooky fun is available this season, we hope you stay safe this Halloween. People in terrifying costumes might be lurking, ready to scare your younger family members. What are you going to be for Halloween?
