Fall Fest

On Friday the 13th (ironic, huh), we had our annual Fall Fest, but it didn’t go the way that it usually does. In past years, we still had lunch on a Friday, but it was either combined and an hour and a half or separate and an hour each. This year, however, it was completely different.

Many students were confused when the schedule was sent out a few days before. They decided to have separate lunches close to their usual times (~30 minutes each). It was also based on attendance, so if you were unexcused for more than 20% of school this year, you could not go. The morning before Fall Fest, we had an advisory period where you got your VIP wristband, allowing you to be let into the lunch.

As usual, the vendors were set up on 44th Avenue, as well as booths from our Eisenhower clubs and groups. There were red bulls, donuts, elote, tamales, tacos, ice cream, and many more from groups like the cheer squad, National Honors Society, and FCCLA. They sell items like this to raise money for their boosters and things like competitions and trips, so all proceeds matter!

After talking to a few students, they agreed that this year’s Fall Fest was weird at first; however, the reason for having these events is to celebrate our hard work and dedication toward our education, and attendance plays a significant role in this. The previous confusion on the attendance requirement is now more understandable. Hopefully, this will make a difference in attendance issues at Ike and will help build responsibility within our students.
