Yearbook Delayed

This year, the yearbook class was blindsided when we found out the yearbook would be delayed. Getting your yearbook at the end of the year has always been a highlight for everyone before they leave for the summer. The yearbook is special because it highlights the year's memories, and you can also share the experience with your friends. The people who work hard formatting the pages and editing them are Ike's yearbook class. The yearbook class has worked diligently to complete this year's book on time, and for now, this is a big slap in the face for all the work that our Ike students do.

The yearbook staff received an email on May 28th, informing us that the 2023-2024 yearbook would have to be postponed due to a manufacturing error with the yearbook company, Balfour. The company is solely responsible for this delay. Instead of distributing the books on June 4 in the commons, we might have to wait until summer to get them to our Seniors who are leaving in the fall for college. This means everyone else also has to wait to get their books. It's important to note that Ike isn’t the only one affected by this error. Thousands of other schools, including Davis High School, were also impacted by Balfour's mistake.

Our editor in chief Mariah Cornejo, has this to say about it: I'm disappointed by Balfour's failure to meet our expectations and deadlines. Their consistent lack of communication throughout the school year made it difficult for us to collaborate effectively and address important design questions. Despite these obstacles, we remained dedicated, pouring countless hours into creating a yearbook that truly captures the essence of Eisenhower. All we can do now is hope for the best despite this big delay.”

Though the yearbook is being delayed, we hope that this won’t hinder the feeling of how the end of the year will play out. This might be a big setback to how we usually deal with celebrating the end of the school year, but we will deal with this with patience. Exceptionally, the people who worked on the yearbook contributed to working hours on end to produce it. This was not the yearbook class's fault but the consequence of our book publisher, Balfour.
