Arcane Season 2 Spoiler-Free Review

Arcane Season 2 was released on November 9th, 2024 with the first three episodes. Then, the rest was released later, until the finale on November 23rd.

Season 2 picks up right where season 1 leaves off story-wise and really amps it up. It is similar in its art direction, music, and characters to the debut season. The art direction in Arcane season 2 is arguably better than the first season as it begins to lean into the more wacky art style, coinciding with this season’s focus on Jinx and her character arc. While scenes are made entirely of watercolor-painted frames or charcoal pencil animation, the animators play with some different art styles. Like the first season, season 2 has many pieces of original music and features many artists on the soundtrack.

The first season featured music from Imagine Dragons, Woodkid, and Pusha T. Season 2 features songs from returning artists Woodkid and Imagine Dragons as well as new artists to the project d4vd and Stray Kids. This powerful and vibrant soundtrack incites powerful emotions. It helps to improve the new season overall, even more so considering where the songs are decided to be played in the plot and the meaning behind them.

This season wraps up most of the storylines of beloved e characters like Vi, Jinx, and Ekko and wraps them up with a neat bow, yet leaves more to be desired as a couple of things in the ending are left open-ended, assumingly to set up the future projects that take place in this continuity.

This show is nearly perfect in almost every way, with both seasons being absolutely amazing. I recommend that everybody and their mother immediately watch this show on Netflix and listen to Heimerdingers Heimerbanger!
