Girls Basketball Off and Running
Girls basketball is officially up and running. On their home court, the girls had their first nonleague game on December 4th, which fell on a Wednesday against the East Valley Red Devils. The season was off to a great start, with a close win of 45-42. Senior Nekha Roehl led the Cadets with a whopping 17 points; not too far behind her was junior point guard Rihanna Espinoza, following with 7 points. There was no surprise when Roehl was named player of the game.
Two days later, the mighty cadets took on the Selah Vikings at home. It was a close game, but in the end, our girls took the dub, 47-46. Once again, Roehl is leading the scoreboard; behind her are seniors Ariana Ramos and Melia Contreras.
The girls traveled to Hermiston, Oregon, and played a great game, Natalia Fredrick led the cadets with 17 points, she had a fantastic game, as well as Junior Mercadez Garza followed with 15 points. The Bulldogs took the lead and won with the score 75-69.
This leaves the cadets with a nonleague starting season of 2-1. These girls are looking great this year, and there will definitely be many more wins in the future. Be sure to show up and support your Lady Cadets this season!
