Analyzing the Russel Wilson Trade

As you all probably know, Russell Wilson has been traded by the Seattle Seahawks. The deal came down on March 8th, sending the franchise quarterback to the Denver Broncos with a 2022 4th round draft pick (pick 114) for a 2022 1st round draft pick (pick 9), 2022 second-round draft pick (pick 40), 2022 5th round draft pick (pick 151), 2023 1st round draft pick, 2023 2nd round draft pick, tight end Noah Fant, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and quarterback Drew Lock. I’m going to give you what I think needs to happen.
Analyzing the Players

Tight end Noah Fant is probably the best player in the trade. He has only one more year on his deal unless the Seahawks extend him with the fifth year option or give him a new contract. A player with 68 receptions, 670 yards, and four touchdowns is a starting tight end in the league that is good but not great. The Seahawks could extend him, but the fact that Denver was willing to give him up is not that inspiring. Defensive lineman Shelby Harris is a solid player, but being older is someone who will probably only be with the Seahawks for one year. He had 6.0 sacks, and 49 tackles are ok, but not great. Drew Lock is another player with only one year left on his contract. He was the backup last year for Denver until Teddy Bridgewater got hurt. He ended the year with 787 passing yards and with two touchdowns and two interceptions to go along with 53 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. So they are okay pieces but not great.
Analyzing the picks

The picks were good but not great. The Seahawks don’t have to pick a quarterback this year in the first few rounds, but next year they do. If you pick up some solid offensive linemen and corners, you should be ready to go for next year. But if the Seahawks can get Malik Willis in the first round, they should go for it.

So this trade was alright but not great. Don’t expect the Seahawks to be a playoff team, but be happy if they are. I’d give the trade a rating of 6/10.
