The Music Man Crew

In every drama production here at Ike, there's always a team behind the scenes who works incredibly hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely. That team of people is the Tech team. 
The Tech team consists of positions such as Sound, Lighting, Runner, Usher, and Stage Manager. Every position is vital for the show to run smoothly. I, along with Asiah Shaffer, am the stage manager for this year's production of The Music Man. 

Being on Tech can be quite stressful at first as you try to understand how to move things on and off the stage, spotlight someone, or play a sound effect. But it becomes a ton of fun once you understand your job and what pieces of the puzzle you need to make the show run well. 

The tech environment is a great way to meet new people and gain experience in the drama field. You get to connect with the actors and other tech people as you work to create an amazing show that the audience will love, creating a sense of camaraderie between everyone. 

As one of the stage managers, I have the privilege of connecting with everyone who works on the show and getting to know people I would have never met without being in the drama department. Being in IKE Drama Tech is fantastic in every sense of the word, and if you get the chance to work in one of these productions, jump at the chance! This will be an experience that I will never forget, and if you join, I don’t think you’ll forget either.
