Festive Follies
On the festive first day of December, Eisenhower had another successful production of our annual follies to the IKE history books. This year's winter talent show had our favorite performances from the band's drumline, color guard, dance, and many more organized talents. But don’t forget the star-studded acts from individual talents, too. The singing, dancing, and musical instruments were all merry and great, but they added to a greater atmosphere of Christmas spirit from the cast. Everyone was head-to-toe decorated for their festive performances. The stage was bright with lights, and even the instruments of the drumline were lit.
The theme this year was Candyland. The show featured some acting from a story based on the board game Candyland. The plot goes that evil Lord Licorice has this diabolical plan to take down King Candy, and these three kids must prevent this from happening.
The Eisenhower club performers that conducted an act were the Ike Dance team with a pom routine, the Band’s Drumline played the IKE fight song, El Ritmo de la Tierra danced, and the Colorguard performed Candy Cane Lane by SIA.
Individual performances stood out one by one for their individuality (haha). This included singing from the Lara siblings, Sarah, Naomi, and Richie, Clara Zielman singing her own song while playing her guitar, and Lilian Gu playing piano and violin. Dalia Allred, Tiara Vasquez, Lenora Leder, Arissa Serenity, Seth Wilson, Quincy Amaya, and Connor Arvizu all had singing performances throughout the show.
The show was most definitely agreed upon to be a great hit. The Follies was certainly on theme with what we associate December to look and feel like, bringing the audience a warm, nostalgic feeling. All this wouldn’t have happened without the community's support and the work and dedication the backstage workers take in putting on this show.
