Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid is a hardcore zombie survival game. Alone or with friends, you must loot, craft, fight, build, farm, and fish to survive. In this game, there is no goal and only one end: death. Once you die, you must start a new character. This feature is one reason why this game is so unique compared to other survival games. Each character has its own separate story of how they die, and you, as the player, get to decide their fate.

     After a horrific “Knox Virus” outbreak in the county of Knox (a 300 by 300 meters large map), the player encounters hordes of zombies caused by this virus who roam the streets and could end your playthrough with just one bite. However, what makes this game so good isn’t just the map size but the challenge of it all. As you avoid these zombies, you must constantly monitor the character's health, food, temperature, stress, and physical well-being. Not only do you have to be aware of the zombies, but you have to be aware of npc’s, too, who will negatively affect your game. Project Zomboid is a more realistic zombie survival game than any other. Each world you create feels alive, with the seasons changing, power going out in cities, and food becoming rotten. There is a certain pressure to build a base with functioning power and clean water to combat the progression of time. The game, of course, is more fun to play with friends, but it is still an enjoyable experience to play by yourself, creating expansive bases and learning to survive. With this game being overwhelmingly positive on Steam and its growing player base, it is definitely something to check out.
