7 Women And A Murder

     7 Women And A Murder is a 2021 Italian comedy mystery film, which is a remake of the 2002 film 8 Women by François Ozon. The film is based in the early 1930’s. A brief summary about the film is it takes place in Italy in winter in a “a plush country mansion” which is owned by the father of the two daughters Susanna being the eldest and Caterina the youngest. Susanna comes back home on Christmas eve after living in Milan.

     The house is filled  with the whole family including the grandma Rachele, and the mother Margherita, her daughter's Susanna and Caterina and their aunt Agostina, and the maid Maria. When their patriarch is found dead in his bedroom, with seven of the women, each with hidden motives. They’re trapped together in the mansion trying to solve the mystery knowing the murderer is in the house. They find themselves being torn apart and finding secrets they didn’t know about, like finding out about mistresses, not knowing who they can believe.

     This film to me seems similar to the movie ‘Knives out’ that is one of the reasons why I watched it. This film shows you how the family doesn’t really know each other like they think they do and find out things that may surprise them. If you are looking for a cometic murder mystery with witty lines with unpredictable scenes this is the type of movie.
