Nothing But A Good Time

“Nothin’ But a Good Time” is a book about some of the most famous rock stars and how they lived back in80’s 80’s, written by Richard Bienstock on March 16, 2021. It covers topics about sex, drugs, and the rock and roll lifestyle. In addition, it includes interviews with some of the biggest names in history and the most famous rock bands there ever were, such as KISS, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, and many others.

Corey Taylor from the band SlipKnot says that he had never liked rock until one day, as a young kid, he was watching tv, and the song “Looks that kill” by Motley Crue started playing. He loved it as soon as he heard it. He grew up on rock music and bands like Guns n’ Roses, Poison, W.A.S.P., and Van Halen. He was so inspired by this type of music that he started getting into raspy singing and wanted to be in a band. Corey started looking for a band to be in, and he first became part of a band called “Stonesour” but soon joined “Slipknot”

Dana Strum (bassist for Slaughter) talks about the Whiskey a Go Go, a place in Los Angeles where famous rock bands played, such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and many many more. In the book, Greg Leon (guitarist for Dokken) explains how crazy the Hot 100 Club is at the Whiskey. He says that it was a place where the guys in the band would go and bring girls. Drugs and alcohol were everywhere. There was a good chance that there would be someone doing blow; it’s almost like a hangout scene for all the local rock stars. It is like an all-day party from the moment you walk in. There were private rooms separated from the hangout scene.  The rock stars would bring countless amounts of girls into these private rooms to have sex with.

Randy Rhoades, one of the most successful guitarists of his time, was originally rejected by Ozzy Osbourne from joining his band two times. Ozzy Osbourne was and still is one of the most famous and iconic rock stars in the world. He met Randy at a bar one day. Randy asked to be the guitarist, but Ozzy said he wasn’t good enough and wanted someone else. But one day, while Ozzy was drugged out and drunk out of his mind, he passed out and woke up to Dana Strum telling him that he had to go to the studio right away because there was a man who was incredible with his guitar. When Ozzy got to the studio, he saw Randy Rhoades sitting there with his guitar waiting to play. Ozzy just wanted to leave already, so when Randy asked, “What do you want me to play?” Ozzy said to just hurry up and play anything. As soon as Randy started playing, Ozzy was in shock and instantly told Randy to be his guitarist; however, they weren’t playing together for very long because Randy died two years after being in the band.
