Fellowship Christian Athletes Club

The Fellowship Christian Athletes club is about introducing, or re-introducing, God to, hopefully, all the athletes (and non-athletes) here at Eisenhower High School, and making a positive impact on their lives.. Here at Ike, many students either don’t believe in God or do not publicly display their beliefs in front of peers. This is because most people are afraid of being made fun of by others for their beliefs and opinions, which is ridiculous. A person should be able to have their own beliefs without having to fear being judged by others.

The first thing you get when joining the club is a bracelet (seen above). It has four circles, filled with a heart, division symbol, cross, and question mark. The heart stands for God’s love for all of us. The division symbol means that sin divides us from our relationship with God. The cross represents that Jesus died on the cross to free us from our sins. And lastly, the question mark represents something we must ask ourselves: Will we follow and stand by Jesus as we walk this earth?

Another thing you can get when joining this club is an Athlete’s Bible. It has the Bible's scripture and stories of past athletes that help describe the competitive aspect of life. It teaches athletes about having one passion, one purpose, and one goal in order to be your best. Another important thing it teaches is that one player, one play, and one game-changing moment can bring victory into your life. The power is in the number “one”. Even though we don’t see it, there are so many small things that constantly change the course of our lives daily, whether it be an encounter with someone new, or just being in a positive mindset.

As of 2020, about 64 percent of Americans identified themselves as Christian. Fifty years prior, this number was about 140 times higher, with 90 percent of Americans identifying as Christian. This is majorly caused by the lack of dedication that people have toward their religion. People become more preoccupied with other things that they deem “important” in their lives that they forget the other commitments they have. When you attend religious services or activities, there are people that are able to hold you accountable for the things you do, and/or the people you choose to surround yourself with.

When you begin your relationship with God, you might feel out of place for a while, but you will eventually learn that even when things begin to affect you, you will always have something to fall back on. God will always be there for you when you need Him, through your best and worst days. He will become your main focus in life, and you will start to realize the good and bad that surrounds you. Eventually, you will live to meet your own expectations, not the ones that other people set for you, which will improve your life in more ways than you can imagine.
