Chris Travis
Memphis rappers come from a place of danger and distrust and try to make their way to the top alone or together, seeing how Memphis is a very dangerous place in America. They succeed those people, including Xavier Wulf, Pooh Sheisty, NLE Choppa, Juicy J, Project Pat, etc.
Chris Travis had made himself one of the popular hip hop artists out of Memphis. Born on December 2, 1993, and had discovered a solo career in 2011 which he would upload music on YouTube then, eventually gain the attention of SpaceGhostPurrp, and led to his initiation to Raider Klan, which he would be featured in some of their songs and even in the mixtapes of the other members. He later made his debut album Pizza and Codeine which was heavily received as a great first album. In 2013 he left Rider Klan to work on his solo projects and create his own label WaterBoyzEntertainment, where all his albums would be released.
His music is depicted as dark, atmospheric beats and introspective lyrics that touch on themes of depression, drug addiction, and the struggles of street life. His flow is often slow and deliberate, allowing the listener to fully absorb the weight of his words. He has collaborated with other notable underground rappers such as Xavier Wulf and Bones, which they would feature in other albums such as Stay Pure (EP), in which Bones was featured, We OD. Then he released Hidden in the Mist, and later on, Born In The Winter came out. Chris had managed to release three albums in the same year, leaving enough music for his fans. Then the release of “Side Effects EP” came out, which contained his most popular song on Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc., “Diamonds,” from which he attained many listeners and fame.
Around this time, the collective SeshHollowWaterBoyz was created, which contained Bones, Eddy Baker, Chris Travis, and Xavier Wulf; he wouldn't feature until a couple of years later, the album, The Ruined when Xavier Wulf made an appearance on the song, The Only Option. Chris Travis would release many albums in a year and was making, in my opinion, excessive amounts of music. Some of the albums contained terrible tracks but one good song, but albums such as Some (Silence of Me Eternally) were very good and rated high by his fans. Also, “Never Forget” was rated highly, and it contained the hit, Where my Money.
Despite his success, Travis has remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He has spoken openly about his struggles with depression and addiction and has used his platform to raise awareness about mental health issues. His music serves as a cathartic outlet for both himself and his fans, who relate to his honest and vulnerable approach to songwriting.
