JackBoys & Travis Scott
In recent years, Travis Scott has risen to fame. In late 2017 he founded Cactus Jack records, signing other artists, such as Don Toliver, SoFaygo, Sheck Wes, Malu Trevejo (who left), WondaGurl, and Smokepurpp. Travis Scott, the lead rapper, released famous hits such as SICKO MODE, FRANCHISE, Goosebump, and, Highest in the room. Sheck Wes has been described as a one-hit wonder after the release of Mo Bamba. Don Toliver songs such as No Idea and Lemonade Feat.NAV Gunna Internet Money and After Party has become popular on TikTok. Don Toliver is currently the underrated rapper of this age.
In 2019 Travis Scott announced that he would release his compilation album through the label Cactus Jack and Epic Records, consisting of Travis Scott, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, Luxury Tax 50, and Chase B, Travis Scott’s own DJ. It also includes ROSALIA, Lil Baby, Quavo and Offset, Young Thug, and Pop smoke.
The album had built its own hype up with its album cover consisting of JDM cars such as a Mazda Rx7 in yellow, BMW M3 E30, Toyota Supra MKIV, and many more in the music videos other cars such as Tesla CyberTruck 3 Different Honda Nsx a blue Porsche a blue chaser in the back.
Besides the cars, it featured four music videos out of the seven songs in the album. After the success of the first Highest in the room, a remix was released featuring ROSALIA and Lil Baby, with ROSALIA just speaking Spanish in her verse. It felt like it wasn't that good; it had ruined the song’s natural sound and is definitely the worst song in the album, in my opinion.
The next song would be the JACKBOYS intro which is just a beat with no verses on it. GANG GANG is the third song in the album, which is the louder song and had one of the better music videos. The song is a solid 8/10 on the album. It consisted of everyone having a verse on it, and it had a nice instrumental/beat on it. The song's flow is just perfect in consistency with each verse. It keeps on getting better. HAD ENOUGH Feat Quavo and Offset, the 4th song in the album and what many would consider the best song on the album. Although the song was short, its chorus and verses make up for it with its slower instrumental and Don Toliver's voice over it. When Quavo and Offset start, the Beat drops, making the sound go along with their louder voices.
The Migos had released a successful album the year before, Culture ll, which had proven their spot in this feature. I rate this song 9/10. Out West Feat Young Thug, the song popularized on Tik Tok for its lyrics and more bass beat in the background. This song has also featured its own music video Young Thug was the lead in the song and did not disappoint. His lyrics were insanely good, and Travis Scott finished the song with him, and the song was also considered one of the better ones on the album. I highly recommend this song. I rank it 10/10.
WHAT TO DO? Feat Don Toliver is the song's singer, and his voice with the beat goes perfectly, especially the timing. Travis Scott has the same voice he has in almost every song. The strong autotune goes well with this one making him one of the background voices over Don Toliver's voice which was a unique feature of the song with its slow-paced beat in the back. The sound is so good. The Song is a good 8/10.
Pop Smoke became popularized for the song Welcome to The Party in his 2019 album Meet the Woo, and on February 7, 2020, he released Meet the Woo 2 with hits such as Foreigner Feat A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and Dior remix Feat Gunna. Right, when he was making a name for himself, he was killed in a home invasion in Los Angeles, California, but still had an appearance on the album with Travis Scott and the JACKBOYS in the song GATTI, which references a Bugatti and two of the cars were featured in the music video the song displayed a heavier/trap tone, especially with Smoke’s heavier voice.
The music videos were stranger than modern ones because of the way they were shot and produced. So the first music video produced for JACKBOYS set a little live-action video to build up the hype. The video starts with instrumentals of the songs, and you witness Travis Scott in pursuit of eight Crown Victoria police cruisers while fleeing in the BMW m3 e30.
The transitions to Sheck Wes arguing with one of his friends, then proceeds to steal a Lamborghini UIrus and switches to a small clip of a 370 doing donuts, then immediately switches with two men stealing the yellow fd rx7. Finally, it switches to the GANG GANG portions of the music video, which take place in a junkyard. A bunch of jdm cars are shown.
Outwest music video shows Travis Scott throwing a party. Young Thugs is dancing on the table, and 21 Savage also appears in the video. In the last music video, Gatti, Travis, and Pop Smoke roll around a small town with two different blue Bugatties, a Veyron and a Chiron, signs of luxury and performance. Overall, the videos and music were some of the greatest compilation albums. I'd like to see a JACKBOYS 2.
