SpongeBob on Stage!

The SpongeBob Musical is coming to Eisenhower! The characters you know and love will be brought to life through this production. The show's extremely immersive design will make you feel a part of Bikini Bottom. This production will make you leave craving more.

This show will be unlike anything ever presented at Eisenhower because of how immersive it will be. Director Stephen Clark says, “I want them [the audience] to leave like they just went to the most fun party and had the best entertainment.” It will be such a fun time because of all the new chances there will be. Clark says, “We have additional opportunities for the audience outside of just attending the show. We will do some meet and greet stuff, some community engagement pieces…and additional pieces to make it fun. To make it more like a party.”

While it may seem like a childish show to put on, it can be enjoyed by everyone! This show is designed to appeal to everyone. Whether you are a long time fan of SpongeBob, a hard-core musical enjoyer, or someone looking for something to do, you are bound to enjoy this musical.

Every song in this show is written by a different musical artist. Some of the featured artists include David Bowie, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, and Panic! At the Disco. Every song is an exciting new genre of music and dance to explore. Every dance number is vastly different than the one before which makes them so fun to watch! Anticipating what you will see next is nearly impossible.

In the words of Clark, this show, “...Basically takes a lot of different elements from the tv shows and puts them all together so there are different elements from different episodes, but the story is all brand new. We are able to dive more into specific characters…” Throughout the duration of the performance, audiences will be able to appreciate the characters' personalities first hand.

As the actor playing SpongeBob SquarePants, I am very excited to present this show to the public. Everyone involved is working so hard to make this something we are proud of. Connecting all the pieces together takes a lot of time, work, and effort. We definitely have not taken this lightly. This show is going to be fun, exciting, and definitely worth the watch.

I got the chance to interview different characters from the production such as Mr. Krabs, Plankton, Karen, and Perch Perkins. They all had a lot to say about this show. When asked what they want the audience to take away from this musical, Plankton (Carmichael Kenneth Lee Rogers) says, “I think one of the biggest takeaways from this musical is just to be good to other people…but also the idea that you can still be goofy and weird.” Mr. Krabs (Daniel Garcia) wants the audience to know that “The Ike Drama Department is a bunch of wonderful weirdos who love to entertain people, and can do it quite well.” Karen (Sadelle Verduzco) wants the audience to think, “That’s the best Ike performance I've ever seen, and that computer girl was hella cool!”

I asked the actor playing Perch Perkins (Carissa Quesnell) what they think this show is trying to portray to the audience. Carissa answers, “...Very loosely ‘Don’t give up.’ Because it's mostly, ‘SpongeBob crazy cool!’...you may lose a couple friends, but there are people who will stay. Don’t give up… change may be good for you.”

Overall, this is a show you don’t want to miss. The songs are amazing, the acting is impeccable, the set is incredible, and the TV show will come to life before your eyes. Don’t miss The SpongeBob Musical! Show dates are March 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, and 11th at 7pm. On the 4th and 11th (Saturday), there will be showings at 2 pm as well. The show is free for YSD students and senior citizens. Admission will be $12 for non-YSD students and $15 for adults. We can’t wait to see you there!
