Her Loss or Our Loss?
Her Loss is the Drakes collaboration album with 21 savage, which was a long-awaited album due to many of the album’s features, such as the songs “Sneakin” and “KnifeTalk,’ feat 21 Savage & Project Pat. In “Certified Lover Boy” and “Mr. Right Now,” feat Drake in 21 Savage and Metro Boomin. On “Savage Mode ll” “Jimmy cooks” feat 21 Savage in “Honestly Nevermind.”
All these songs have defined that 21 and Drake are superior when it comes to their features, but how does “Her Loss,” the 16-song album, compare to the singles they had dropped years ago and some recently? And what led up to the anticipated album?
Drake was born Aubrey Drake Graham and started releasing musing in 2006, dropping the mixtape “Room For Improvement.” In 2009, he dropped another mixtape, “So far Gone.” He was then signed to Young Money Records/Cash Records by Lil Wayne, who they would say is the man who made Drake. Young Money Records ended up releasing Drake’s official Debut album in 2010, “Thank Me Later,” and made more albums, such as “Take Care” in 2011. In 2012 He Founded OVO Sound with Producer 40 and Oliver El-Khatib and continued to make albums with Young Money, such as “Nothing was the Same” in 2013, “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” and “What a Time To Be Alive” in 2015,” then “Views” in 2016, ”More Life” in 2017,” and finally “Scorpion in 2018,m Drake’s Final album with the label.
Drake switched his future albums to OVO Sound, releasing “Care Package” in 2019, “Dark Lane Demo Types” in 2020, and “Certified Lover Boy” in 2021, heavily competing with the new Ye album “Donda.” (Which in my opinion, is a horrible album it doesn't stack up to its old albums such as “Graduation.”)
21 savage, born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph on October 22, 1992, in London, and later moved to Atlanta with his mother. He was introduced to rap when he and his best friend were involved in a shooting where he sustained gunshot wounds, and his friend was killed. His earliest projects were his mixtapes “Slaughter Tape” and “Slaughter King,” both released in 2015. Multiple producers, such as Zaytoven, Jetson, and Metro Boomin, made them.
21 Savage rose to fame when he made Savage Mode EP in collaboration with Metro Boomin, released on July 15, 2016, with hits, such as “No Heart,” “X,” Feat Future, and “Savage Mode.” One year later, on July 7, 2017, he released “Issa Album” with the streaming hit “Bank Account,” which blew up in popularity. It also contained hits “Close my Eyes” and “Dead People.”
At this point, it was proven that he just couldn't miss with a new song, and “Issa album” was a major success, ranking number 2 on the Us Billboard 200. The album went platinum. That same year, he teamed up with Offset and Metro Boomin on “Without Warning,” which also contained “Ric Flair Drip” and “Rap Saved me.”
He also founded Slaughter Gang Entertainment the following year. In 2018, 21 Savage went quiet, not releasing any new singles or projects, but a single named “Immortal” was featured in the Mortal Kombat 11 trailer. On December 21, 2018, his album “I am > I was” was released. This was a bigger album because it had 15 songs with features, such as J.Cole, Offset, Young Nudy (21 Savages’ cousin), Project Pat, ScHoolboy Q, Gunna, Lil Baby, Childish Gambino, and Post Malone. The album was a major success, landing at the Us Billboard and was even nominated for Best Rap Album. It contained streaming hits “a lot,” “can't leave without it”,and ‘ball w/o you.”
Two years later, “Savage Mode ll” was released and was previewed through a trailer with a voiceover by Morgan Freeman. This album had hits “Runnin”, “Mr. Right now”, ”RIP Luv,” and “Many Men.” It went to number 1 on the Billboard charts. Savage Mode was a success, and so were 21 savage and Metro Boomin.
Then on the music video for “Jimmy Cooks,” it was announced that “Her Loss,” the collaborative album, would be released. On November 4, 2022, the 16-song album landed once at Number 1 on the us Billboard 200 but was disappointed with its features. Although you can hear Lil Yachty on “BackOutsideBoyz” he has no verse, but the only feature is Travis Scott on Track 10. Another thing the album was praised for was the disses towards certain rappers and artists. On the track “BackOutsideBoyz” he dissed DRAM and Ice Spice, and on “Circo Loco,” he disses Megan Thee Stallion and Kanye West, and finally, Alexis Ohanian on “Middle of the Ocean.”
